history

At the beginning of the 20th century, PK Kazimir, one of the best Bessarabian oenologists, founded new vineyards on a large scale and used the old Coquina mine near Mileștii Mici as a wine cellar.

Variety level of rarities

More than 70 percent of the rarities are red wines, 20 percent white wines and around 10 percent liqueur wines . They consist of the varieties Pinot, Traminer , Muskateller , Riesling , Fetească , Dnestrovscoie , Milestscoie , Negru de Purcari , Trandafirul Moldovei , Auriu , Cahor-Ciumai . The most valuable wines of this Bibliotheca Subterranea , vintage 1973–1974, cost up to 2000 euros per bottle, these are currently mainly being delivered to well-funded Chinese and Japanese collectors. The so-called golden collection dates from 1968 to 1991, i.e. the heyday of Soviet rule and the following years until independence.

With an extension of 250 km, of which 50 km are currently in use, the total length of the Mileștii-Mici complex is the largest in Europe. You drive through the tunnels in groups with your own car, columns of up to five vehicles are formed and the guide sits in the first vehicle. At various stations there is a stop and explanations are given. The tourist wine trails all lead through Mileștii Mici. The craftsmanship of carvers, locksmiths and ceramic artists of these years is reflected in the equipment and tasting rooms.
