The Miles Sound System ( MSS ), formerly Audio Interface Library (AIL), is a middleware primarily for computer games , which is mostly used as an alternative for simple audio chipsets . It uses little processor time and at the same time provides adequate audio output. She was originally a middleware driver library for sound cards under DOS - applications , as existed no viable alternative. RAD Game Tools acquired the technology from Miles Design in 1995. The original release was in 1991.

John Miles published the source code of AIL Version 2 for DOS as a public domain . The package is available on its website ("KE5FX.com") and contains code for both real-mode and protected-mode programs .

Games that use the MSS (selection)
