Military service provider

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A military service provider is a company or individual that provides services for the military . These services include logistics, maintenance, training and communication.

Military service providers do not actively intervene in combat and do not provide military support. This sets them apart from private security and military companies . Under the Geneva Conventions , military service providers who support direct military operations are legitimate targets for attack. However, if you are captured, you are also entitled to treatment as a prisoner of war .

Situation in Germany

In Germany , military service providers are usually active in the form of a public-private partnership . The clothing business of the Bundeswehr, previously in the hands of the Territorial Defense Administration , has already been handed over to LH Bundeswehr Bekleidungsgesellschaft mbH , the fleet management of the civil vehicles of the Bundeswehr to BwFuhrparkService GmbH and the maintenance of selected equipment of the army and the armed forces base to Heeresinstandsetzunglogistik GmbH . These outsourcing measures are expected to increase quality and reduce costs. The Bundeswehr should concentrate on its core military tasks. BwConsulting GmbH was established in 2017 as a think tank and entrepreneurial arm of the Federal Ministry of Defense .
