Millburn was a whiskey distillery in Inverness , Inverness-shire , Scotland .

history

Millburn distillery was founded in Inverness in 1805. Little is known about the early history of the distillery. In 1876 the buildings were renovated and the distillery was sold to Haig & Co in 1892 . Booth's Distillery Ltd. bought the distillery in 1921 and it was extensively renovated after a fire in 1922. In 1937 it was bought by Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL) and in 1943 became the property of Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD). The operation fell victim to the death of the distillery in the eighties and was shut down in 1985 because there was no room for expansion. The site was sold in 1988 and the buildings were partially demolished and remodeled. Today a restaurant is located there.

production

The water required comes from Loch Duntelchaig. Firing was carried out by means of a coarse bladder ( wash still ) and a fine blister ( spirit still ).

Bottlings

The brandies produced were an important part of the Vatted Malts Mill Burn . However, there are also single malt bottlings available, nowadays they are available in the Rare Malt Series . There are also bottlings by independent bottlers.
