Miltonduff is a Whiskey - Distillery in Elgin , Speyside , Scotland .

history

The Miltonduff distillery was built in 1824 on the site where the brewery of the former Pluscarden Benedictine monastery was previously located. Today there is no longer any connection between the distillery and the monastery, but the name of the monastery is still mentioned on the labels of the bottlings sold by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail based in Elgin , a few kilometers away . In 1930 and 1970 the distillery was extensively renovated. In 2005, Miltonduff was taken over by Chivas Brothers ( Pernod Ricard ) as part of the takeover of Allied Domecq.

The whiskey produced here is a central component of Ballantine's blends.
