Minden Hills is a town on the Gull River in Ontario , Canada with a population of around 5,500. It is the administrative seat and county seat of Haliburton County . Minden, Ontario, was named after the city of Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The settlement has existed since the middle of the 19th century, after numerous settlers moved to this area because of the forests and set up sawmills. Minden Hills is now primarily an excursion area.
Nearby are both Gull Lake and Minden Lake - which the city gave its name.
