The joint venture Mini Container Pool ( MCP ), with its full name Mini Container Pool Chartering Ltd. , coordinates the use of feeder ships ( container delivery ships ) from various owners. It currently employs 20 ships.

General and history

The company was founded in 2005 as a joint venture , initially by five ship owners. The feeder ships are loaded by United Container Carrier-Pool GmbH (UCC). The UCC is a company of the Hartmann-Reederei from Leer . Of the 20 ships currently in the pool, 13 are equipped with cranes , the rest are being retrofitted step by step to allow more flexible use. The pool is to consist of 27 ships in the medium term.

Feeder ships of the pool

The feeder ships were built between 2007 and 2010. They each have storage space for around 630 TEU (620 TEU for ships with cranes) and can carry 400 TEU with a homogeneous container load of 14 t each (380 TEU for ships with cranes). The ships are 117 meters long, around 20 meters wide and, with a draft of 6.5 meters, have a load capacity of 8,000 tdw (without cranes) or 7,700 tdw (with cranes). The main engine has an output of 2,500 kW, with which the ships can reach a speed of 15.5 knots .
