Minicom is a text-based terminal emulation for modem and serial communication for Linux . The software was developed by Miquel van Smoorenburg and is one of the most important terminal emulators on Linux systems and is part of most distributions .

Minicom supports ANSI - and VT100 - emulation .

Due to the low system requirements, the software can also run on Intel 80386 computers.
