Minor Majority

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Minor Majority is a Norwegian pop and folk band.

The group was founded in 2000 by Pål Angelskår (songwriter, singer and guitarist) and Andreas Berczelly (keyboards) as a studio project. The duo was supported in several songs by singer Karen Jo Fields , who has appeared as a guest since then. Many other guest musicians also gave Angelskår's compositions even more depth from the start. Berczelly resigned as a musician in 2002, but remained a producer, and was replaced by Jon Arild Stieng . A year later, the duo gradually became a quintet, with Harald Sommerstad (organ), Henrik Harr Widerøe (bass) and Halvor Høgh Winsnes (drums) becoming permanent members of the band.

The music group is in the singer-songwriter tradition. Her lyrics are written exclusively in English and mostly revolve around interpersonal questions, longings and disappointments, relationship problems and attachment fears.

For their work, the band received awards in Norway such as the Gold Album or the Spelemannsprisen . Individual songs were highly placed in the Norwegian charts. Her better-known pieces include Electrolove (2001), Dancing In The Backyard (2002), She Gave Me Away (2004), Come Back To Me (2006), Supergirl (2006), Alison (2006) and Wish You'd Hold That Smile (2006).

The group has also toured frequently, except in Norway, mainly in Germany, France and Switzerland. Despite all her successes, she has so far been denied greater international fame.
