Minoru Ko

Minoru Kō ( Japanese 稔 幸 , civil: 野 崎 央 子 , Nozaki Yōko ; * June 16 ) is a former Otokoyaku (a woman who gives a male acting role ) of the Japanese Takarazuka Revue .

From 1985 to 2001 she was a member of the "Star Troupe". Her name first became known through the role of Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary in the 1996 production of the musical Elisabeth . In 1998 she achieved the highest possible status within the theater: As the top star of the "Star Troupe", she played all leading roles in their productions until 2001. This includes Tony from the West Side Story , as well as Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind . The role of Oscar Francois de Jarjayes from Lady Oscar was her last appearance before retiring from the Takarazuka Revue stage . In 2006 she was part of the ensemble of the concert series for the tenth anniversary of the musical Elisabeth in Japan, again in the role of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary.

Minoru Kō was one of the most media-effective otokoyaku. At the zenith of her popularity she appeared in many Japanese television programs, conveyed information about the revue and thus acted as an ambassador for this genre.
