Mint 400

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mint 400 is a motocross race for motorcycles and buggies. It has been held on a 100-mile circuit in the desert around Las Vegas since 1968 . After the Mint Hotel was taken over by Binion's Horseshoe in 1988, no agreement could be reached on the details of the continuation of the annual race. The event was therefore paused for almost 20 years from 1990 to 2007 and has been taking place regularly since 2008. The Mint 400 was sponsored by the original hotelier Del Webb .

Famous is the race by Hunter S. Thompson's book from 1971, on which the eponymous film " Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas " (German " Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ") is based.
