development

The version 100/5 was developed from 1995 by the company Meteor, which was taken over by SELEX in 2002, and had its first flight in December 1996. It was approved by the Italian military in 1998 and the Mirach 100/5 version is used by the defense ministries of Germany, Italy, Great Britain and France as well as on NATO training grounds. It is used to simulate a wide variety of threats, for example it can simulate a fast anti-ship missile attacking in deep flight , but it can also serve as a target for fighter jets or anti-aircraft positions. Infrared torches or two autonomous Locusta sub-targets are used as payloads . The drone is controlled by an automatically programmed flight control system or a ground station. The take-off takes place with the help of two JATO boosters, the landing with a parachute. At the end of 2010, the further developed version 100 / x with a Williams WJ38-7T engine and aerodynamic changes for greater maneuverability was presented. A variant for the reconnaissance is called Mirach 150 .
