Safran Power Units (formerly Microturbo ) is a French manufacturer of gas turbines and products derived from them. The company was founded in Toulouse in 1961 and is now part of the Safran Group.

The company focuses on four areas: the development and manufacture of jet engines for guided missiles and drones , auxiliary gas turbines for auxiliary power units (APU) and ground operations (GPU) s as well as starters based on gas turbines. The first product was a starting system for the Snecma-Atar jet engine of the Dassault Mirage . In 1981 the company was taken over by the Labinal Group, joined Turboméca in 2000 and has belonged to Safran since May 2005 through the merger of Snecma and Sagem .

In addition to the headquarters in France, there are the subsidiaries Microturbo Ltd. in England, Microturbo Inc. in the USA and Microturbo Australasia in Australia. The turnover is 80 million euros (2005), which is generated by 600 (3/2006) employees. The company is currently the second largest company for small turbo engines.

More recent products are the starter units for the PowerJet SaM146 and for the turboprop engine TP400 for the Airbus A400M .

By the 50th anniversary (2011), the company was able to deliver over 12,000 units from all four areas.
