Mirdif (also Mardaff, Mardef or Murdaf; Arabic مردف, DMG Mirdif ) is one of the 132 communities in Dubai , United Arab Emirates , with an area of 9.2 km². For 2014 a population of 33,583 was proven for MURDAF , and for 2016 already 37,548.

Mirdif is one of the newer districts of Dubai and is about 15 minutes from the airport in the inland direction, i.e. H. Towards the desert, southeast of ar-Raschidiya  /الراشدية. However, a large part of Mirdif is under the approach path of the airport ( Dubai International Airport - DXB).

In March 2010, the new Mirdif City Center (financed by the Majid Al Futtaim Group) was opened at the western end of Mirdif, between Street 12 and Emirates Road . At the center of this complex, which covers around 12 hectares, is a large shopping mall. Mirdif has four mosques, with the one commonly known as the Mirdif Mosque located at 15 Street. Mirdif is actually a purely residential area for middle income groups and apart from the “Uptown Mirdif” has no other reference points to offer, apart from the three supermarkets Spinney's, Lifco and Westzone. The best known is Spinney's, as it was the first store opened in “Uptown Mirdif” and gave its name to the roundabout in front of it on Algeria Road (“Spinney's Roundabout”), which every taxi driver knows and which is always an anchor point on taxi rides to Mirdif can be specified.

Uptown Mirdif

Since 2005 Union Properties has built a new district center, the Uptown Mirdif with a shopping center. The whole complex with its retail offers is grouped in several rings around a central, circular square that has become more and more lively over the last year. “Uptown Mirdif” has proven to be a great success because, on the one hand, it is the first “shopping center” in Mirdif, and on the other hand, because it is the only public space there that is perceived and used as such. The first shops opened in 2006, and outdoor events are also held. A new hospital and cinema are also being built here. A gated residential community is attached to the south .

Dubai Zoo

There were plans to move the Dubai Zoo to Mushrif Park east of Mirdif. Mushrif is a separate community with only 63 residents (2016). These plans have been announced several times by the government, but have not yet been implemented.
