Mirissa is a settlement in the south of Sri Lanka , about 5 kilometers southeast of Weligama . Mirissa is a tourist center on the south coast of the island and is known for its sandy beach . It's also a popular starting point for blue whale and dolphin watching .

Mirissa has a hot, humid tropical climate. The daytime temperatures are usually between 30 ° C in January and 32 ° C in May, the night temperatures between 24 ° C and 28 ° C. All 12 months are humid, however there are two rainy seasons, May and October.
