Mirko Schombert

Mirko Schombert (* 1980 in Essen ) is a German director and theater manager.

Life

Schombert grew up in Essen. After graduating from high school in 1999 and doing civil service in Cologne, he completed a degree in theater, political and media studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum from 2000 . During his studies he worked as a freelance theater teacher and realized his first productions in the independent scene in the Ruhr area.

In the 2006/2007 season, Schombert was employed as an assistant director at the State Theater in Mainz before he switched to the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach municipal theaters as a theater teacher in the following season. From 2008 to 2010 he was a founding member and theater pedagogue in the young theater division at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen. In 2010 he returned to the Mainz State Theater as director of the children's and youth theater. In 2013 Schombert was elected artistic director of the Landestheater Burghofbühne Dinslaken . His contract was prematurely extended in 2017 for a further five years until 2024.
