Miroslav Mišković

Miroslav Mišković ( Cyrillic : Мирослав Мишковић; born July 5, 1945 in Bošnjane ) is a Serbian businessman who owns "Delta Holding" and is considered the richest citizen of his country alongside Philip Zepter . In 2007 Forbes Magazine named him 891th on the list of the world's richest people with an estimated net worth of $ 1 billion.

Career

Mišković went to school in Kruševac and graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade in 1971 . He worked for Jugobanka and Trayal in Kruševac until 1977. In 1977 he moved to Župa Chemical Industries , where he was a managing director from 1987 to 1990. In 1990 Mišković was Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Serbia for six months . At the same time he founded the company "Delta M", which prospered in Serbia during the Yugoslav wars and the reign of Slobodan Milošević .

This was followed by the "Delta Bank", the mainstay of the later Delta Holding, which was later registered in Cyprus . It is active in retail and wholesale, insurance, banking and real estate, car imports and agriculture. In 2011 alone it is said to have generated 1.4 billion euros.

Ongoing proceedings

According to consistent media reports, Miroslav Mišković and his son Marko were imprisoned on December 12, 2012 on suspicion of taking advantage of the privatizations in the former Yugoslavia. According to police chief Milorad Veljovic, Mišković is said to have threatened the defense minister and deputy prime minister Aleksandar Vučić with murder. The pre-trial detention was extended for another month in mid-January 2013.
