Mishʿal bin Hamad Al Thani

Sheikh Mishʿal bin Hamad Al Thani ( Arabic مشعل بن حمد آل ثاني Mischal ibn Hamad Al Thani , DMG Mišʿal b. Ḥamad Āl Ṯānī ) is a Qatari diplomat and the current Ambassador of Qatar to the United States .

Career

Mischʿal bin Hamad Al Thani studied in Washington DC in 2004 , where he received his Masters in International Relations.

In 1997 he began his career in the diplomatic service for the Qatar Foreign Ministry. Between 1998 and 2000 he was part of the Qatar delegation to the United Nations (UN). From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the Qatari Mission to the United States.

From 2004 he was part of the Qatar diplomatic mission in Belgium , where he was appointed ambassador in 2007 and stayed until 2011.

He was the Qatari Ambassador to the United Nations from 2011 to 2013. From 2013 to 2016 he was the Qatari ambassador to France .

Finally, he became Qatari Ambassador to the United States in 2016.

He is married and has three children.
