Mixed items at the Deutsche Reichspost were printed matter , business papers and samples packed together . They had to postage paid, the maximum weight was 500 g, the minimum dimensions corresponded to those of the printed matter. The packing of printed matter and product samples was permitted on January 5, 1867, as the fees for both types of mail were the same.

In 1872 there were different maximum weights, printed matter 500 g, product samples 250 g, which means that the proportion of product samples in mixed shipments was only allowed to weigh 250 g. With the introduction of business papers, these could also be included in mixed mailings. Maximum weight now 1 kg. In 1917, Braille letters were also allowed to be packed. With the introduction of the 2 kg package , the maximum weight has been reduced to 500 g. After July 1, 1954, this designation no longer exists in domestic service. Product samples may be attached to printed matter, business papers, product samples and printed matter.
