Miss Selfridge is a nationwide UK department store chain that started out in 1966 as the young fashion section of Selfridges department store in London . In July 1999, Miss Selfridge was acquired by the Arcadia Group . This belongs to Sir Philip Green .

By 1967 Miss Selfridge had franchises in department stores across the country and by 1969 there were a few independent branches.

The first mannequins to be seen were based on the icon Twiggy from the sixties. The first clothes were made of paper. Couturier Pierre Cardin was commissioned by Miss Selfridge to design 4 exclusive collections per year.
