The Middle Ages Academy was founded in 2012 as a virtual specialist library for the historical sciences and cultural history of the Middle Ages . The aim is to offer interested laypeople and scientists a portal for information and exchange about the history and everyday culture of the Middle Ages in the area of today's Germany.

The sponsorship lies with a free working group of specialists from the fields of archeology, history, cultural studies and art history.

Information offer

The portal gathers overviews of epochs and links to public and non-profit institutions that work on research into the Middle Ages. In addition, the portal offers access to a wide range of online accessible written sources (mostly digital copies) as well as to aids such as online dictionaries, mute maps or free software. The "question of the day" takes up historical events with current reference to the day or removes prejudices about everyday life in the Middle Ages. Participation in the portal is voluntary; registered users have access to thematically arranged overviews of history and everyday culture.
