Medieval library catalogs in Germany and Switzerland

The medieval library catalogs of Germany and Switzerland are a source edition supported by the Bavarian Academy of Sciences , in which the texts of the medieval library catalogs from Germany and Switzerland are scientifically sorted according to the historical dioceses .

From 1918 to 2009 four volumes were published, mainly covering southern Germany. The Austrian sister company Medieval Library Catalogs Austria was already closed in 1971.

As a manuscript heritage of the German Middle Ages , Sigrid Krämer published a compilation of manuscripts from medieval libraries in Germany. As a privately published database Bibliothecae codicum medii aevi. Manuscript Libraries of the European Middle Ages. Dr. Erwin Rauner Verlag 2009–2010 it was expanded and updated. Like the manuscript inheritance, however, it drew considerable criticism.

As publications of the Commission for the Editing of Medieval Library Catalogs in Germany and Switzerland , Bernhard Bischoff published the catalog of continental manuscripts of the ninth century (with the exception of the wisigothic) , edited from the estate by Birgit Ebersperger (2 volumes, 1989-2004) and as a single publication 1993 the list of manuscript catalogs by Paul Oskar Kristeller, edited by Sigrid Krämer : Latin Manuscript Books before 1600 .
