The Medieval Museum is located in the Borgo Antico of Taranto in the Palazzo Fornaro in Via Duomo 175 and was inaugurated on December 22, 2005 .

It extends to around 400 m² and houses an exhibition on the historical memory of the city of Taranto in the Middle Ages. After long research, the materials used were faithfully reproduced and represent the life of the population in the Middle Ages.

The museum is divided into several departments and on different levels (up to ten meters below the street) with walls made of carparo (local stone), in which one can discover fossil remains: trading life, daily life, a warehouse with an adjacent iron and leather workshop.

The museum was an idea of the cultural center "Maria D'Enghien" , with the purpose of making known the culture of Taranto and to reveal the historical identity of the city, especially the period of the principality of Taranto .

The most famous event is the memory of the wedding of Maria d'Enghien , wife of Prince Raimondo Orsini del Balzo of Taranto, which takes place every year on the first Saturday in May;
