Midface fractures are fractures of the skull caused by force on the head. Sports accidents, punches, traffic accidents or falls are often the causes.

One differentiates between one

The symptoms can be diverse, including: hematomas, especially eyeglass or monocle hematomas , visible bony steps, disorders when opening or closing the mouth, swelling and changes in the face. X-rays and CT are mainly used for diagnosis.

The many therapeutic options depend on the type and location of the fracture and the severity of the accompanying injuries.
