Medium hard wood fiber board

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Medium hard fiberboard (HFM;. Engl of medium-hard Fiber Board ) is a fiber board having a density of 400 kg / m³ to 800 kg / m³ and thickness of 5 mm to 16 mm.

The board is made of lignocellulose fibers such as bagasse , wood or straw , whereby, in contrast to the soft , medium-density (MDF) and high-density (HDF) fibreboards, a wet process without adhesives is used. It is used for formwork, interior fittings, doors, furniture, packaging. Due to their material, the panels can be bent for processing. Only panels with a density of 560 kg / m³ or more are suitable for building purposes.

The production takes place mainly according to the wet process. The plates have a sieve mark on the back, caused by the sieve through which the water was pressed. The cohesion is mainly due to the felting of the fibers with each other and small additions of binding agents . Other additives can improve the material properties and improve the behavior of the panels against fungi, fire or water, for example.
