Mixohalin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Mixohalin is usually water indicated that a salinity comprises from 0.5 ‰ to 30 ‰ (3%). This concentration range therefore covers the entire range between fresh water and salt water .

However, mixohaline water is not to be equated with brackish water , since brackish water, at least in German-speaking countries, does not cover the entire range up to a salt content of 30 ‰, but only up to 10 ‰.

In English-speaking countries, the concentration range goes from 0.5 ‰ to 30 ‰ and is mostly used as a synonym in connection with salinity.
