Mobile Business (also M-Business ) refers to any type of business transaction in which the transaction partners use electronic communication technology in connection with mobile devices as part of the initiation, agreement or provision of services .

This term was derived from the related term electronic business , which was popularized by an IBM advertising campaign in the 1990s.

Electronic business was originally referred to as " electronic commerce in the broader sense"; accordingly, mobile business can be understood as " mobile commerce in the broader sense". Further differentiation can be made as follows:

The term "business" includes not only commercial (buying / selling goods and services), but all aspects of everyday business (e.g. looking after staff, customers and business partners). "Business" can therefore also include free services. Using this guide, the terms electronic and mobile business can be better distinguished from the related terms electronic and mobile commerce.
