Mobile landline replacement

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A mobile fixed network substitute is commonly understood to mean the substitution of the physical telephone connection by a mobile radio solution . This means that a subscriber's landline connection is canceled, but that subscriber can take his landline number with him to a mobile operator . As a result, the subscriber can still be reached under his landline number, but accepts incoming calls to the landline number on his mobile phone. Existing extensions are retained.

principle

With the mobile landline replacement, the landline number is taken over by a mobile operator, who then delivers the landline calls to the user's mobile phone. The landline connection can be canceled with the operator. A physical landline phone is also no longer necessary. As before, the caller dials the other party's landline phone number and pays the connection charges to the landline. In addition to call forwarding, mobile fixed network replacement offers functionalities that were previously only possible with conventional or mobile telephone systems (so-called mobile PBX solutions), e.g. B. welcome announcements, music on hold, automatic call control or extensions. Existing extensions in the company can simply be adopted or new extensions can be defined if necessary.

Framework

Number porting

In order to be able to receive landline calls on the mobile phone, the landline number of the user is ported to the network of the mobile phone provider. If the user does not have his own landline number, this is provided by the mobile operator, usually free of charge.

Fixed network termination point

The mobile use of a geographical number (landline) is strictly regulated in Austria. The reason for this is that in the event of an emergency the person in need can be located quickly; even if he is no longer able to speak himself ( rattle call ). In order to guarantee the legal regulations of this rattle call, a so-called fixed network termination point (OFN) must be installed for the user when using a landline number. This ensures that the landline telephone number is tied to a specific location. As a rule, this is done using a permanently installed modem or landline telephone with an integrated SIM card. Active and mobile use of a landline number is not permitted in Austria, i. H. When receiving calls from the mobile phone, the mobile phone number (and not the landline number) is always displayed on the call receiver.

  • There is no landline fee
