Modlin is a district of the Polish municipality Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki .

The place is north of Warsaw near the confluence of the Narew in the Vistula and was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki in 1961.

The buildings of the Modlin Fortress that have remained after several battles in the 19th and 20th centuries are worth seeing .

In 1939, during the Battle of Modlin , the fortress was one of the last strongholds to capitulate after the German invasion of Poland .

Modlin is a long-distance train station on the Warsaw – Gdańsk railway line . To the north of the town, on the site of a former military airfield, there is the new civil Warsaw-Modlin airport , which is served in particular by low-cost airlines such as Ryanair .
