Modular production kit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The modular production kit, MPB for short, standardizes the production of add-on parts and assemblies in the Volkswagen AG plants .

The front and rear axles, steering, seat frames, engine, transmission as well as assistance system, air conditioning and much more are standardized. Here, too, new weight-optimized components are used (see lightweight construction ). Many plants will be almost identical in the future, which is particularly advantageous for new plants as production experience can be easily transferred. With the MPB, Volkswagen would like to create competitive advantages over its immediate competitors.

The MPB was introduced at the same time as the platform concept - the MQB modular transverse matrix.
