Murray Irwin "Moe" Norman (born July 10, 1929 , † September 4, 2004 ) was a Canadian professional golfer . He stood out for his individual swing technique, which earned him the name "Pipeline Moe" due to its repeatability.

Swing technique

Norman's swing technique, despite all its peculiarities, can be assigned to the one-plane theory, in which the club moves on one plane during the entire swing. Correspondingly, Norman's hands were higher in setup than other players and arms and clubs formed a continuous line from the start. The 10-finger grip without overlap was also a special feature. Norman put all 10 fingers around the bat like baseball. His grip with his left hand was turned over the racket above average. Backswing and follow-through, as well as shoulder rotation, were minimal. Instead, arms and wrists came more into play.
