Mohammad Anwar Elahee

Mohammad Anwar Elahee (born July 9, 1929 , † November 26, 2010 ) was a Mauritian football player and coach.

Athletic career

After a playing career in his home country, during which he became a national player for the Mauritian national team , Anwar Elahee began his coaching career in the 1960s. At first he was in charge of his former play station Muslim Scouts , before he was the first local coach as the national coach of the national team in his home country. Under his leadership, the team qualified for the first time for an African championship tournament by participating in the finals in 1974 , but was eliminated after three defeats in the group stage. He later worked with Helmut Kosmehl , together they led the national team to the gold medal at the Indian Ocean Island Games in 1985 .

In 1988 Anwar Elahee resigned from his position and subsequently trained Sunrise Flacq United and Scouts Club in the national championship, but as the successor to Rudi Gutendorf he took over the reins of the national team from 1994 to 1996.
