Posthumous portrait, around 1590

Moisi Arianit Golemi (also: Moisi Arianit Golem Komneni or Moisiu i Dibrës; † 1464 in Istanbul ) was a member of the Albanian upper class from Dibra and great-nephew Gjergj Arianit Komnenis .

When Skanderbeg came to Albania , Moisi quickly allied himself with him and became the commandant of the border guard. In this position he was also present at the Battle of Svetigrad . He was a notorious cavalry commander, always on all dangerous points of the battle and often he turned the outcome of the battle to the advantage of the Albanians .

After the debacle at the siege of Berat and out of envy of Skanderbeg because of its great fame, Moisi Arianit Golemi betrayed his leader and defected to the Ottomans .

After a year he returned to Albania with an army of 15,000 men, but was immediately defeated by Skanderbeg. He withdrew first to Macedonia and then to Istanbul , where the Ottoman authorities paid him no heed. Soon after, he rejoined Skanderbeg, who forgave him.

Moisi Arianiti devoted the rest of his life to fighting for Albania. In 1464 he was captured by Ballaban Badera at the Battle of Vaikal and taken with other prisoners to Istanbul, where he was skinned alive in public . This event is known in the Albanian historical tradition as the Constantinople Massacre .

In the Arbëresh literature , the Kënga e Moisi Golemit ("The Song of Moisi Golemi") reminds of Moisi Arianit Golemi.
