Moments of sport

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moments des Sports is a multimedia magazine that includes an Austrian radio broadcast and an internet blog. Between 2013 and 2015, the editorial team was the most award-winning specialist editorial team in Austria.

subjects

The motto of the magazine is "Sport has the power to change the world", which Nelson Mandela coined at the presentation of the Laureus World Sports Award 2000. The topics that deal with moments of sport are based on this quote. The radio program dealt mainly with athletes and their stories, which gained social and political importance. In addition, moments of sport brought fringe sports and their history into the program.

history

Moments des Sport was founded as a student project on the free Viennese radio station Orange 94.0 . Pirmin Styrnol and Christian Weiner , at that time both enrolled as students of journalism and communication studies at the University of Vienna, went on air once a month at that time. The first show entitled "The Cinderella Man" started in January 2013. But since the series was nominated for the prestigious radio award for adult education just six months later , the editorial team expanded. In addition to the radio broadcast, a multimedia project was therefore launched which also processed the topics online. Pirmin Styrnol (editor-in-chief) and Christian Weiner (deputy editor-in-chief) retained the editorial management. In 2014 and 2015, the editorial team of Momente des Sports was the most frequently awarded editorial team in Austria, won the Radio Prize for Adult Education, the Coburg Media Prize and was nominated twice for the Sports Media Pearl Award, which is advertised worldwide. Nevertheless, broadcasting was stopped in March 2015 after 26 issues. The audio team shifted to production activities for other radio stations. The online division persisted.

construction

The moderator duo Styrnol / Weiner led through the radio show Moments des Sports, the basic concept of the programs was based on long reports and radio features . However, the structure of the programs has been changed on various current topics. Discussions, short radio plays and satirical contributions were also part of the program. A special feature of the radio series was the typical radio participation of Maik Styrnol as a permanent house composer . Theme-specific orchestral music was composed for each program.
