Monar Jonban

Monar Dschonban ( Menār jombān = "swaying minarets") is a former mosque and mausoleum of Amu Abdollah Soqla . The portal of the building probably dates from the time around the death of the hermit Amu Abdollah Soqla, who died around 1316. The two minarets are probably of Safavid origin. They are the reason for the importance of the building as a tourist attraction of the city of Isfahan in Iran .

The mausoleum is cubic in shape with sides of about 10 m. The two minarets are about 17 m high. The peculiarity of the building lies in the moving minarets. If you enter one of the minarets, the resulting movement of the minaret is also transferred to the second minaret of the building, which vibrates with it. Structural damage has already occurred as a result of these movements. For this reason, the minarets are no longer open to tourists today. Today, the movements of the minarets are triggered at predetermined times as an attraction.
