Monthly newspaper of the Society for Pomeranian History and Archeology
The monthly sheets of the Society for Pomeranian History and Archeology were a new magazine published in 1887 by the society mentioned . The first editor was Martin Wehrmann . The publishers were the Stettin companies F. Hessenland , from 1896 Herrcke and Lebeling and from 1915 Léon Saunier . At the end of 1942 the magazine was discontinued due to the war.
In the first edition, the aims of the publication were described as follows: “It has been our wish for a long time to create an organ through which we not only have more frequent and lively regular contact with our members, but also through the number this can have a stimulating and promoting effect on other circles. This organ is supposed to be “The Monthly Papers”, which, as a result of an agreement with the company F. Hessenland in Stettin, will also be published as a supplement to the “Ostsee-Zeitung” and thus be accessible to a larger group of readers. We intend in the monthly papers mainly smaller articles on the history and antiquity of Pomerania, reports on remarkable finds, on the growth of our museum, on the progress of the work undertaken by the society, reports on the society itself and its meetings, as complete an overview as possible of the to bring Pomeranian literature, as well as discussion and advertisements of the most important relevant writings. "
