Monthly runner in the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin
A monthly runner (also called a monthly clock ) is a mechanical watch mechanism that lasts around 30 days. Most of them are pendulum clocks .
In order to be able to run maintenance-free during this period, the time had to be dispensed with in addition to winding. This is why clockworks manufactured with high precision (and therefore expensive) were used for long-running clocks. Monthly runners are relatively rare and therefore collector's items.
