Moon ball

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moon ball is a tennis term .

It refers to a ball that flies towards the sky . This can happen unintentionally through a frame hit (outside edge of the tennis racket ), for example during a return, or intentionally through a very high defensive ball, with which the speed is to be taken out of the game. These moon balls , often played with topspin , to the opposing baseline are difficult to return and can sometimes serve as an attack preparation. A special case of the moon ball is the so-called praise . Here the defensive player tries to outplay the attacker who is standing on the net in order to achieve a point. However, if the praise is played too low, the opponent can respond with a smack ball. If the praise is played too high, the opponent can still reach it by running back.
