The astronomical event mentioned was a total lunar eclipse that had to be dated precisely based on the information in the cuneiform text. It occurred on the night of November 22nd , 353 BC. A. The scribe of the Babylonian cuneiform text noted the exact time of the lunar eclipse:
"[Artaxerxes III. 6th year]: 14th Araḫsamna (16/17 November greg. ): Beginning in the southeast, after 23 deg (about 70 minutes) total (lunar eclipse), which lasted 18 deg (about 50 minutes). "
