from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Monellan Castle ( Irish Caisleán Mhaigh Nialláin ) was a large, with battlements provided Cottage in the village Killygordon in Irish County Donegal . It was built in the 18th century for the Delap family , an Irish family with Scottish roots. The family had acquired the property in the late 1700s. The Delaps also owned lands in Buckinghamshire .

In the 1930s the Irish Land Commission bought the country house and estate. They distributed the land to local tenants, as was the policy of the time. Then the country house was demolished with the help of the Irish government.
