Monika Rapp (* 1954 in Lünen ) is a German artist who works primarily with the medium of photography.

life and work

Rapp studied art / visual communication at the art college in Kassel from 1975 to 1978 and completed her studies as a designer with a photo documentation on a psychiatric hospital and a thesis on psychopathological art.

1978–1982 she studied fine art with a focus on photography and art theory at the art college in Kassel. In 1982 she received her diploma. 1985–1986 Rapp did a “postgraduate course” at Reading University in the Department of Fine Arts and lived in London. She works as an author photographer and became known for her black and white photos of nature in urban areas. The conceptual approach to the subjects and the work in series is characteristic of her photography.
