Monotekktoni (* 1977 ) is a German solo artist / singer from the Berlin underground who mixes electronica elements with experimental sounds.
History and style
Monotekktoni is the solo project of the Berliner Tonia Reeh , who is mainly a singer and guitarist in the Berlin indie band Masonne (formerly Das Zuckende Vakuum ). It has been performing under the name Monotekktoni since 2001. Their music consists of elements of indie, electronica and also ambient . She uses electronic sounds (which she all produces, plays and distorts herself). The artist describes her style of music as "hard listening", contrary to the more well-known genre easy listening . She sings in English on many songs, more rarely in German. Her voice combines a very strong, constant character with a certain fragility and emotionality. In 2004 she released the LP Tonfalle and in 2006 the CD album how to reduce power consumption to a minimum , both of which were released on the Berlin label Sinnbusrecords . In 2007 the third album love your neighbor? no thanks. Furthermore, she is also represented on the compilation 4 Women No Cry , on which three other solo artists can be heard alongside her (including Dorit Chrysler ).
Live she often appears on stage in bizarre outfits to underline the overall message of her music. On September 19th, 2008, the fourth album Different Steps To Stumble was released on Sinnbusrecords .
In 2011 she released the album Boykiller , a piano vocal album, under the name Tonia Reeh .
Since August 2013 she has performed as a duo with the drummer Rudi Fischerlehner .
On September 6, 2013 the new album Fight of the Stupid was released .
