Monster scooter in action

The monster scooter is a piece of sports equipment from the field of fun sports / extreme sports . The oversized scooter with mechanical disc brakes is characterized above all by its balloon wheels with studded tires, which ensure maximum grip with maximum damping. The scooter weighs approx. 20 kg. In Switzerland they are also called scooters.

Areas of application

Tires, brakes and the high running board make the monster scooter a downhill scooter. We only ride downhill. Especially in ski areas , this sport therefore offers a new source of income for lift and mountain railway operators in summer . It is preferred to drive on forest and cycle paths that are at least 2 m wide to allow oncoming people to pass. Even stony and hilly terrain can be negotiated without any problems. The device is also suitable for jumps, drifts or stunt brakes . Driving on the flat or uphill, however, requires a lot of effort.

Related sports equipment

In general, the monster scooter belongs to the family of downhill scooters , whose construction is based on downhill bikes in general. This also includes the cross-country scooters , which are easier to drive on the flat with a shorter wheelbase and less weight. Mountain carts are similar to a go-kart and can also have 3 wheels. In a similar way, mountain boards or grass boards with pneumatic tires , which are more like a skateboard in shape , can be used. A version of a pneumatic racing sled ( Hillracer Cross ) is already on the market.

safety

It is essential to wear a helmet when doing downhill sports. If official cycling and hiking trails are used to descend, at least one cycling helmet must be worn. The use of protectors is also useful. The device is not suitable for road traffic.
