The Mont Blanc Laboratory is a physical research facility .

Particle physics experiments can be carried out in a tunnel deep in Mont Blanc , shielded from cosmic rays by the rock . Here were, among others, since 1984 the Underground Neutrino Observatory (underground neutrino -Observatorium), often simply called "Mont Blanc experiment", and from 1982 to 1988, the NUSEX ( Nuclear Stability EXperiment , experiment for nuclear stability), the both were used to observe astronomical and atmospheric neutrinos. The experiments were primarily operated by various Italian universities and research centers as well as CERN .
