The Montan-Zeitung for Austria-Hungary and the Balkan countries was the specialist organ for mining, metallurgy and saltworks with special consideration of mining and metallurgical machinery, blasting and deep drilling technology , as well as all related industries. The magazine saw itself as an independent organ for the promotion of the interests of the trades , as well as mining and smelter officials. The newspaper was first published by Franz Hilarius Ascher in 1894 and was included in the Montanist Rundschau in 1929 after his death .
