The Montessori School Hannover is a free primary school and IGS with upper secondary level (secondary level II) in Hannover- Südstadt, which is based on Montessori education .
history
The school is run by the Montessori Bildungshaus Hannover gGmbH . It was founded in 2005 as the parents' association Montessori Bildungshaus Hannover eV with the aim of offering crèches, kindergartens and a school based on the philosophy of Maria Montessori in Hanover. The first daycare group was set up in the Heideviertel, the first primary school classes as sub-tenants in the primary school on Lüneburger Damm. In 2011, the association took over the building of the former elementary school Bonner Straße and renovated the school wings, partly with the parents' own contribution. In the school year 2016/17 the upper secondary level started, which was approved by the state school authorities at the end of 2015. In December 2016, the former sponsoring association was transformed into the current sponsoring gGmbH, which is 100% owned by the current parent association Montessori Region Hannover eV . In mid-2019, 450 children and young people are studying here in four classes from grades 1-3, four classes from grades 4-6, four classes from intermediate grades 7-10 and three grades from upper grades 11-13. In June 2019 the first year of upper school passed their Abitur and in August 2019 the upper school moved to a new location in Hanover's Südstadt.
This educational center is the largest parent-supported educational institution in the city and region of Hanover.
The grammar school upper level is one of eleven Montessori grammar schools and comprehensive schools in Germany that not only integrate Montessori pedagogy as an additional element in the course offer, but also implement it as a supporting concept of the upper level.
