Montferrand ( Latin : Mons Ferrandus ) is a former crusader castle near Barin (بعرين) in Syria .

history

The castle was built by Raimund von St. Gilles around the year 1100 . It changed hands repeatedly before it was finally destroyed in 1238/39 by the Emir of Hama , al-Muzaffar Mahmud .
