Hildegard Pohl (born March 17, around 1959 in Stuttgart ) is a German pianist and piano teacher .

Professional background

Hildegard Pohl had piano lessons since she was eight. Her second instrument was the violin , after which she switched to the church organ . From the age of 14 she worked as an organist at the Catholic Maria Friedenskirche in Stuttgart. She passed the Abitur at the Fanny-Leicht-Gymnasium with a focus on music in Stuttgart-Vaihingen and then studied at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg, majoring in piano. After graduating as a music teacher and passing the concert qualification examination in classical piano, she turned to jazz .

After studying music, the women's troupe “Hollywood we are coming” was founded. Appearances and broadcasts on Bayerischer Rundfunk followed, as well as a guest appearance in the ARD studio in Frankfurt. In 1991 Helge Schneider made a guest appearance together with “Hollywood we come” at the festival of the same name at Heppel & Ettlich in Munich.

In 1988 the "Hildegard Pohl Trio" was founded with a changing line-up, since 2001 with Yogo Pausch on drums and Norbert Meyer-Venus on bass. The three artists developed their typical sound of swinging classical music together.

From 1995 she started solo stage programs as "Wilde Hilde" (Hildes wild Pianocabaret, Hildes wilder Rosenkrieg). She also performed as a piano partner for singers, authors, instrumentalists and choirs. Since 2011 she has been working closely with the American opera and concert singer Rebecca Martin , for example with the crossover program "Swing goes to the opera" and the "Swinging Christmas Show" in 2011, when she took over the stage play by Franz Wittenbrink at the Dehnberger Hoftheater "Secretaries" the piano part. In March 2015 the premiere of "Swing it, Mr.Bach" (Hildegard Pohl Trio) took place in Nuremberg. Hildegard Pohl has been a member of GEDOK Franken as head of the music division and a member of EPTA Germany since 2016 . As "Wilde Hilde", she is the honorary ambassador for Oxfam Germany , and she has also recorded a specially written song for it.

Pohl sees herself as a border crosser between classical music and swinging jazz, especially in the interweaving of both styles. In spontaneous improvisations in concerts, she combines the musical wishes of the audience across the musical genres, which has become her trademark.

Hildegard Pohl also works as a silent film pianist, for many years in guest appearances all over Germany and regularly appears at the Nuremberg StummFilmMusikTage.

She owes her stage name "Wilde Hilde" to both her intense piano playing and her cabaret streak. She appears in stage programs both as a solo pianist and as a chanson singer with her own lyrics.

Awards

Hildegard Pohl is the recipient of the Wolfram-von-Eschenbach-Preis 2019 of the district of Middle Franconia.
