Shōnen Rival ( Japanese 月刊 少年 ラ イ バ ル ) was a Japanese manga magazine published by Kōdansha , which was aimed at male adolescents and therefore belongs to the Shōnen category.

After the children's comic BomBom was discontinued in 2007, Shōnen Rival started as a follow-up aimed at middle school students. The start in April 2008 was accompanied by a drawing competition to win new mangaka for the magazine. In addition to these, the magazine contained series by, among others, George Morikawa and Hiro Mashima . The publisher aimed for a circulation of 300,000 copies. In 2009 the magazine had a sold circulation of 120,000. In June 2014, Shōnen Rival was discontinued. The move was justified with a restructuring of the manga division of the publisher.
