history
After the First World War, from 1920 to 1925, the moor in Kattmanns Kamp was plowed deep by a moor plow pulled by a steam engine in order to attract kötter willing to settle. Each was given around five hectares to keep a few cows. In 1924 the settlement of the moor began. The new settlement consisted of a total of 13 houses. Despite their own, not exactly enviable economic situation, the settlers decided to build a "moor school" to which they also donated the bricks. On August 10, 1929, the building, which had been built in-house, was inaugurated. The first teacher was Gustav Kollmann from Holzwickede . In 1952, the one-class moor school was expanded with the addition of a service apartment and teacher Volpert moved in the following year. Later adjoining rooms and toilets were added. On September 9, 1967, the school was closed. In the Moorsiedlung area there has been an outdoor area statute since November 5, 1992, which enables further new settlements. In the settlement there is only one grocery store, which is also a restaurant, the so-called "Moorschänke"
